For a standard recorder you need 7 fingers and a thumb. Bespoke keys can be added to aid reach or you can use a one-handed recorder which requires 4 digits.

A Strum Buddy allows a ukulele to be played with one hand or an Artiphon Instrument 1 can be used to play chords in ‘Smart Strum’ mode with one digit on each side.
